What passive networking means

Most people start networking the week they need something. A job, some career advice, a hire, a way into a new field. That's when the messages go out, and it's also when you have the least to offer the person reading them.

The usual way

You search LinkedIn for people at the companies you want to work for. You make a list, send connection requests, and write to strangers: "I see you've been in this field ten years, are you hiring?"

Most never reply. It isn't personal. They've never heard of you, and the first thing you're doing is asking for a favour.

The passive way

Passive networking changes the timing. You meet people in your field regularly, when you don't need anything from them. So when the need comes, there's no last-minute scramble. You already know the people you need, and they know you.

It isn't cold outreach, a job board or a sales tool. It's a habit that puts you among the right people before it matters.

How Touchbase does it

You tell us your field, your experience and what you're after. Each week we match you with one person and put a 20-minute video call on both your calendars, at a time you're both free.

One house rule: no pitching. Not your product, not your services, not your startup.

One call a week doesn't sound like much. Three months in, it's a dozen people in your field who know who you are.

Start before you need it.

Sign up, tell us what you're after, and your first match will show up on your dashboard.
